Third-Round: Joshua Garnett

One of the most glaring needs for the Jets in the NFL Draft is to add youth to an aging offensive line. In the past two offseason’s, the Jets have signed two offensive linemen, but their offensive line hasn’t improved that much.

Joshua Garnett played with Andrus Peat in 2014 at the University of Stanford, but last season, it was Garnett who stood out as a great player on his own. Peat was a first round pick in last year’s draft, and while Garnett doesn’t project that high, he is still a great player. In 2015, Garnett was named the nation’s best interior offensive lineman, and projects to be available for the taking in the third round of the NFL Draft this season.

Garnett may not be a starter from day one on the Jets, but he would be an excellent player to develop with an experienced offensive line around him. Coming into the pros, Garnett will need to improve a bit as a pass blocker, but he projects to be able to impose his will on the running game right away.

Adding someone to the offensive line whether they start right away or not will be important for the Jets, and adding the nation’s best interior lineman would be an excellent move in the third round.
