First-Round: Noah Spence

There is a lot of talent for defensive end/linebacker, Noah Spence, but off-the-field issues will be what concern NFL scouts this offseason. Spence failed two drug tests and was banned by the Big-10 after two seasons with Ohio St, but instead of declaring for the NFL Draft last season, Spence tried to get himself right.

Spence underwent treatment for his addiction to ecstasy and transferred to Eastern Kentucky to get his degree and prove that he put his mistakes behind him. In 2015 at Eastern Kentucky, Spence dominated by totaling 22.5 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks.

The level of competition was very different for Spence in 2015, but in his sophomore season at Ohio St, he totaled 7.5 sacks and was a first-team All-Big 10 player.

Spence would certainly fill a need for the Jets at outside linebacker in their 3-4 defensive sets as he is a very good pass-rusher. Spence hopefully has gotten his life together after battling with addiction, and while he would be a bit of a risk, his talent has never been questioned.

The Jets can go in a lot of different directions in the first round, but drafting Spence would be a good idea after they decided to part ways with Quinton Coples last season, and with Calvin Pace likely gone this offseason.
