The New York Knicks had another rough night Tuesday, as they were defeated by the Boston Celtics 97-89. It was a tough, hard fought, physical game as the Celtics bullied the Knicks throughout the game and eventually it wore them down.

The Knicks got off to a hot start in the game, as they jumped out to an early 9-0 lead and looked like they were ready to compete in a very important game. But, after Carmelo Anthony was whistled for a flagrant-one foul, the momentum swung quickly in the Celtics’ favor and they took full advantage. From that point on the Knicks just didn’t look the same, despite holding a lead going into halftime.

The second half was then all Celtics, as the Knicks were methodically beaten in the third and fourth quarters. The Knicks were unable to match the energy and physicality of the Celtics, as they pulled away and made the shots when they needed them most. They were up in the Knicks faces throughout the game and the Knicks did not respond as it looked like they were rattled and thrown off their game.

With the loss tonight, the Knicks have now lost six of their last seven games as they are going in the wrong direction in the Eastern Conference. Things will not be getting any easier, as the Knicks have games with the Detroit Pistons, Memphis Grizzlies and Denver Nuggets this week. On the other hand, the Celtics have now won six of their last seven games, moving them up to a tie for third place in the Eastern Conference.

The Knicks are talking as if they are a playoff team, but they are not performing like one on the court currently. Check out our takeaways from the tough loss to the Celtics Tuesday night.
