The New York Jets had a roller coaster of a season in the first year of the Todd Bowles Era, going 10-6 but missed the postseason for the fifth straight year. 2015 also left the team and fans with a sour taste, as they were eliminated by former coach Rex Ryan and thee Buffalo Bills 22-17 in Week 17.

It’s hard to tell whether this season was a good one or bad. In free agency, general manager Mike Maccagnan was quite aggressive and made big moves in his first year in the organization. Offensively, he bet on veteran leaders, like quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and wide receiver Brandon Marshall, to help out Bowles in his first year as head coach.

Maccagnan also made upgraded the defense tremendously by bringing Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie, two of the best corners in the game, back to New York. These shut down corners, along with a defensive line that featured Muhammad Wilkerson, Leonard Williams and Sheldon Richardson, the defense was difficult for any offensive coordinator or quarterback to figure out.

Bowles also brought a different mentality as players were able to prepare better for games and practice. Unlike Ryan’s Jets, this team seemed more focus. Even though they were unable to earn a spot in the playoffs, it was an exhilarating year basically because these last few years made Jets fans everywhere cringe.

However, there are still many questions facing Gang Green. Maccagnan, fresh off his “Executive of the Year” award, has to make big moves again in order to avoid going six straight seasons without making the playoffs.

Here are the biggest needs in order for the New York Jets to be playoff bound in 2016.
