The New York Knicks gave it all they could Tuesday night, but ultimately they fell short against the Oklahoma City Thunder 128-122 in overtime. The Thunder were able to get the most from their superstars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook when it mattered most, while the Knicks superstar was in a suit on the bench.

That ultimately was the difference, as the Knicks did not have their go-to and leading scorer, while the Thunder had both of theirs. Arron Afflalo was tasked with picking up the slack left behind by Anthony, but he was unable to do it this time as he had a rough shooting night that was epitomized by his shot at the end of regulation that looked to be halfway down.

It was a great effort from the Knicks given the circumstances stacked against them, as the Thunder have been rolling and the Knicks were without their best player. They were able to battle and keep it close throughout the evening despite being shorthanded compared to the Thunder.

The Knicks were attacking and playing aggressively, as they did not back down from the Thunder at any point in the game. Unfortunately, like we have seen in the past from the Knicks this season, they ran out of steam at the end and the superior talented team was able to take away a win at the end.

This was the second game of the season between these two teams, as each team picked up a victory on the road with the opposing team’s star small forward sidelined. Morale victories don’t count as much as actual victories, but it was encouraging to see how well they played without Anthony on the court.

The Knicks will continue their tough stretch of games Thursday against the Toronto Raptors, but before we get to that let’s take a look at some of the takeaways from the hard fought loss Tuesday against the Thunder.
