New York Giants News: The Giants continue rounding out their coaching staff, bringing aboard Adam Henry and looking to retain Steve Spagnuolo.

The New York Giants have the most important piece of their coaching staff in place. Ben McAdoo will be taking over for Tom Coughlin, who resigned shortly after the regular season ended for the Giants. McAdoo was the offensive coordinator for the Giants the last two seasons under Coughlin, leading one of the more prolific offenses in the NFL and overseeing Eli Manning having career seasons.

The Giants have been hard at work filling out the remainder of the staff around McAdoo, as they have promoted quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan to offensive coordinator. They missed out on Joe Philbin, who decided to join the coaching staff of the Indianapolis Colts instead of joining on with the Giants.

With a spot open, the Giants have turned to the San Francisco 49ers staff to add to their own offensive staff. According Football Scoop, the Giants will be bringing aboard former 49ers wide receiver coach Adam Henry.

This is a great move for the Giants because Henry is someone that is familiar with Odell Beckham Jr. Before he took over as a spot on the 49ers staff, Henry was a member of the coaching staff of LSU for three seasons. He should be able to keep Beckham on his current path of development, as he had a hand in him being prepared for the NFL. Also, he should be able to help keep Beckham’s emotions in check, something we saw as the cause of him being suspended for one game near the end of the season.

In addition, it seems that the Philadelphia Eagles are trying to poach members of the Giants coaching staff once again. After showing preliminary interest in Ben McAdoo to replace their head coaching vacancy left by Chip Kelly, the Eagles also requested permission to talk to Coughlin. Now, with a head coach in place in Todd Pederson, the Eagles are at it once again.

Pederson is interested in talking to Steve Spagnuolo to join his coaching staff in the same capacity as defensive coordinator. Ralph Vacchiano has reported as much via other sources from his Twitter account.

While Pederson can show interest in Spagnuolo, there is very little chance he actually leaves the Giants. He is still under contract and the Giants have said that they would like to retain him for their coaching staff. McAdoo and John Mara both want Spagnuolo back according to Vacchiano, and there is a chance they do not let him even talk to the Eagles; being under contract and with interest from the team to retain him, there is no reason to let the Eagles talk to him.

Despite struggling in his head coaching stint, it is still valuable experience for the Giants to have on their staff around McAdoo. McAdoo has been above a position coach for only two seasons, so he still has plenty to learn in being leading a staff. It is something that Spagnuolo can help him with, as the Giants continue to add and round out their coaching staff around their rookie head coach.
