The New York Knicks were defeated by the Orlando Magic on Monday night, falling at Madison Square Garden 107-99. This was the second time this season that the Magic picked up a victory over the Knicks, as they won the first meeting back in November 100-91.

Tonight the Knicks looked a step slow, even though they had last night off and the Magic were the ones coming in on the second night of a back-to-back. It didn’t seem to matter though, as the Magic knocked down timely shot after timely shot. Just when it looked like the Knicks were going to get over the hump and either tie the game or take the lead, the Magic would lock down defensively for a stop and then get a basket on the other end.

That seemed to be the theme throughout the night, as the Magic led wire-to-wire in this one; the game wasn’t even ever tied after the first basket was scored to break the 0-0 tie. The Knicks just didn’t have it tonight, and couldn’t get a stop when they needed it most as the Magic always had an answer to their runs.

With the win, the Magic now move to 16-12 on the season and 7-7 away from Amway Center. The Knicks drop below .500 again, as their record falls to 14-15 on the season. They also fell below .500 at home, as they are 7-8 at Madison Square Garden and once again struggling to protect their home court. The Magic are a team that the Knicks will be battling for a playoff spot with, so losing twice already in the season to them is not encouraging.

Things will not be getting any easier for the Knicks, as they will be playing nine straight games against teams above the .500 mark currently. It makes tonight’s loss to the Magic, which snapped their four-game losing streak, that much tougher to take.

Before we get to covering that stretch of games, which will start Wednesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, let’s take an in-depth look at tonight’s game. Check out our takeaways from the Knicks loss to the Magic tonight at Madison Square Garden.
