New York Giants Rumors: Could Odell Beckham Jr. be facing a suspension after his actions in the game against the Carolina Panthers?

The New York Giants were delivered a crushing blow to their playoff hopes in Week 15 when they lost to the Carolina Panthers on a field goal as the clock expired. They still have a slight chance to win the NFC East and sneak into the postseason, but will need help in addition to winning their last two games of the season.

Winning those last two games could become a lot tougher, as they could be without star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. for at least one of them. According to ESPN Insider Adam Schefter, the league is discussing possible discipline for Beckham after his continual outbursts against the Panthers, with a one-game suspension being possible.

The play that many people will point out as being the one to garner a suspension was when Beckham Jr. launched himself at Panthers’ star cornerback Josh Norman, hitting him in the head.

That was the most blatant hit between the two, as they were physical with each other essentially from the opening kickoff. Beckham Jr. probably should have been ejected from the game following what happened in the video above, but was allowed to stay in the game. More physical play happened, as these two went at it whenever they lined up against each other.

These plays overshadowed what should have been a great matchup between two of the most talented players at their respective positions. Instead we saw something that looked more like a WWE wrestling match than a football game, which the Giants will more than likely pay for now. It didn’t stop once the final whistle blew either, as Norman was very vocal after the game talking to the press.

The NFL is also discussing possible repercussions for Norman, but if he is suspended it may help the Panthers more, as it will force them to rest one of their best players for the playoffs, as they have already clinched a division title and have easier games with the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers to finish the season.

But if Beckham Jr. gets suspended, you can all but write off the Giants for the postseason. Without Beckham their offense is nowhere near as dynamic, as they do not have a receiver or player to replace his production and explosiveness.

The Giants cannot afford to lose Beckham for any amount of time if they want to make the postseason in 2015. There will more than likely be some type of punishment for Beckham Jr., but the Giants should not lose a player for a full game because the referees did not make the right decision to eject him from the last one.
