The New York Knicks were able to defeat the Philadelphia 76ers for the second time this season, winning 107-97. The game was nowhere near as close as the score indicates, as the Knicks were up by as many as 30 points, taking the lead for good less than four minutes into the game.

The score was that close because the 76ers went on a 10-0 run in the last 2:13 of the game to make it respectable in a game that really wasn’t. The Knicks used a 13-2 run in the first quarter to really open things up, and they just continued to build up the lead from there as the young 76ers team seemed to quit.

More from Empire Writes Back

This is not the first time that the 76ers have seemed to give up early in a game, as they have been getting beat, and beat bad, a lot this season. This was the ninth straight loss for the 76ers, and fifth straight by double-digits. Their record on the season now drops to an abysmal 1-27 on the season, as they are heading for the most ping pong balls in the NBA Lottery.

This was the third consecutive game that the Knicks scored over 100 points in, as they have also won all three of those games. The Knicks improved their record to 9-2 on the season when they score over 100 points, which speaks volumes to the improvement of the Knicks defense this season.

The Knicks have pulled their record to one game under .500, as their three-game winning streak and victory over the 76ers put them at 13-14 on the season. They are also 7-7 on the road now, which is right where they want to be to make a playoff push. Now they just have to begin protecting their home court, and they will really be in business.

They will be able to do that tomorrow, as the Knicks have a quick turn around and will be hosting the Chicago Bulls Saturday night. Before we get to that game though, let’s take an in depth look at tonight’s game. Check out our takeaways from the Knicks’ 13th victory of the season in their defeat of the 76ers.
