Pass Defense Grade: B+

The Giants pass defense was pretty solid tonight. Part of that has to do with the fact that Ryan Tannehill being the quarterback, but they also stepped up when they needed a stop. He completed 25-of-41 for only 236 yards and one touchdown.

The one touchdown was a blown coverage from Prince Amukamara, as he thought he was going to get some help from the safety, but it never came. It resulted in Kenny Stills sneaking behind him for a 47-yard touchdown. That was the extent of the damage done by anyone not named Jarvis Landry, as Tannehill locked onto his second year receiver early and often.

Landry was peppered with an insane 18 targets, catching 11 of them. He managed only 99 yards though, as Landry has very little success after the catch despite being such an explosive return man. The Giants were able to limit those yards, as Landry’s long for the night was only 25. They were able to get under his skin eventually, as he committed a costly 15-yard penalty on the Dolphins’ final drive of the game when he threw Trevin Wade to the ground after the ball.

Unlike the Giants, the Dolphins were unable to get much production from anyone outside of Landry. It resulted in a very mediocre night through the air despite the struggles that the Giants have defending the pass.
