The New York Knicks will look to salvage something on their three-game west coast trip tonight when they finish the trip up against the Portland Trail Blazers. They will also try and snap a four-game losing streak that has seen a lot of bad basketball being played by the Knickerbockers.

It will not be an easy game, as the Knicks have not won at the Moda Center, formerly known as the Rose Garden, in Portland since January 11th, 2011; Carmelo Anthony was not even on the team yet as Amar’e Stoudemire led the way with scoring, Ronny Turiaf had the most rebounds and Raymond Felton had the most assists.

That seems like an eternity ago, as the Knicks have zero players on the roster from that team despite it being less than five years later. That speaks to the turnover that the Knicks have had on their roster, something that the Blazers are going through this season.

More from Empire Writes Back

They saw four of five starters leave this past offseason, with the Knicks signing two of them in Robin Lopez and Arron Afflalo. Damian Lillard was the last man standing, but he has stepped up his leadership role under one of the most underrated coaches in the NBA in Terry Stotts. He has this Blazers team playing hard every night despite being void of much established talent.

The Blazers will be coming into the game tonight with a 10-14 record, which is identical to the record that the Knicks will be entering the game with. They will be returning home off a four-game road trip which they split 2-2, while the Knicks will be playing the last game of what has been a disastrous three-game road trip.

What will it take for the Knicks to avoid getting shutout on this road trip and returning home with no momentum and on a five-game losing streak? Check out our keys to the game for a Knicks victory tonight over the Blazers.
