The New York Knicks will look to get back to .500 once again tonight when they host the Dallas Mavericks at Madison Square Garden. This will be the first of two meetings between the teams, as they will also be playing in Dallas later in the season on March 30th.

The Knicks will be entering this game off a disappointing loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night. They got ran out of the gym in the second half of that game, losing the game 106-91 on the second night of their back-to-back set. The Mavericks will be coming to New York on the second night of a back-to-back set and two-game mini road trip; they defeated the Washington Wizards last night to win the first game of that set.

The Mavericks were in a lot of headlines during the offseason because of the DeAndre Jordan debacle, but it has proven to be a moot point. They are playing strong basketball thus far this season with a 12-9 record and a 7-6 record away from American Airlines Center. They have wisely used the money that otherwise would have went to Jordan, filling out the team with veterans around aging star Dirk Nowitzki to remain competitive.

This will be another measuring stick game for the Knicks, who have had some up and down moments this season but are in a pretty good position for the quarter mark of the season despite being under .500 at 10-11. It would be a strong win for the Knicks if they are able to knock the Mavericks off at home and really start building some momentum at home this season.

What will it take for the Knicks to get that third straight victory at home and even up their record at 5-5 on the season in Madison Square Garden?

Check out our keys and what to watch for during the game when the Knicks and Mavericks tip off at 7:30 PM ET from the World’s Most Famous Arena.
