Matchup Of The Game: Carmelo Anthony vs. Luol Deng

The Knicks have seen some mixed results from their highest paid player this season, as Carmelo Anthony continues to work his way back from his offseason knee surgery. He has shown flashes at times, and will now look to continue it against one of his longtime rivals in Luol Deng.

Deng is not the player that he once was, as he looks like a shell of himself from his time with the Bulls. But, he can still get the job done every now and then, and against a player the caliber of Anthony you can bet that he will bring his A game.

Anthony is coming off quite possibly the best 10 point game a person can have, as his presence on the court was enough to open up opportunities for his teammates. He was not forcing any shots, and the Knicks offense flowed seamlessly throughout the night. Against the Heat, the Knicks may need a little bit more of an aggressive Anthony.

While foul trouble played a part in the reduced shot attempts, it was encouraging to see the rest of his teammates step up. Keeping the efficiency will be something to keep an eye on, as Deng is one of the better wing defenders in the NBA, holding opponents 2.6 percent lower than their average shooting percentage.

The Knicks have shown they can win without Anthony being on top of his game, but it is surely easier to win when he has things going.
