While Tom Brady’s stats look pretty good against the Giants, this was one of his tougher games of the season. It was the lowest completion percentage he had in a game, in addition to QBR and rating. His 334 yards were helped immensely by a 76-yard touchdown that Rob Gronkowski did a lot of the work on, and a 56-yard reception to Brandon LaFell that Jayron Hosley tipped and probably should have intercepted.
The interception the Giants had, inside their own five-yard line to set up their last drive of the game, was the first one Brady has thrown in the second half this season. He should have had a second one on the final drive, but rookie Landon Collins saw the ball fall out of his hands after he hit the ground and rolled over. It gave the Patriots and Brady another life, and he took advantage getting his team into field goal range to knock in the winning score.
The Giants were also able to get pressure on Brady, as they made him uncomfortable throughout the game. They were able to get three sacks in the game, forcing two fumbles and recovering one. They registered another five hits on him during the game, as the Giants took advantage of an offensive line in a bit of shambles.
Despite that, Brady finished the game 26-of-42 for 334 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Even without Dion Lewis, who tore his ACL last week, and Julian Edelman breaking his foot, Brady got the job done with what he had to use at his disposal.
This was an energized as we have seen the Giants pass rush all season, which is as big a takeaway as the Giants have from this game heading into the bye week. Jason Pierre-Paul has seemed to bring a spark to the pass rushing unit, and is hopefully something that continues through the remainder of the season, as it has been the biggest void for the Giants this season.
