The New York Giants and New England Patriots added yet another classic to their history of games, putting forth what was arguably the best game of the 2015 season. It was a back-and-forth game, which the Patriots eventually pulled out with a 27-26 victory. It is another heartbreaking loss for the Giants, who played well enough to get the victory, but came up just short.

With the loss, the Giants fall to 5-5 on the season. Of those five losses, four of them have had the Giants holding a lead in the fourth quarter. In most of those games, the Giants could have pulled out the victory with a little better execution at the end of the game, and tonight was no different. A dropped interception by Landon Collins that would have ended the game hurt, as did a “drop” by Odell Beckham Jr. that was originally called a touchdown catch but overturned on replay as the rules for a catch continue to be murky at best.

For the Patriots, they remained undefeated at 9-0. They are one of three undefeated teams remaining in the NFL, as the Carolina Panthers also moved to 9-0 on Sunday, and the Cincinnati Bengals will be looking to do the same on Monday Night Football. This was probably the most beatable that they looked all season, as injuries are finally beginning to catch up to them.

The loss of Dion Lewis hurt their offense because of the added dimension he brought to the table. With Julian Edelman now joining him on the sideline because of a broken foot, their offense becomes that much shorter on options, as Lewis and Edelman were third and second on the team in receptions and targets behind only tight end Rob Gronkowski. That is in addition to an offensive line that has been in constant flux this season and got exposed a bit by the Giants.

The Patriots will have an extra day to get things right before an important division game against the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football, which could essentially wrap up the division for them.

The Giants on the other hand will head into their bye with a bit of a sour taste in their mouth because of the loss, but with some positives to take away from the game. The Giants will have two weeks to prepare for a game against the Washington Redskins out of the bye that could be for first place in the NFC East.

Before we get to that thought, let’s take a look at some of the Giants team grades from their soul crushing defeat at the hands of the Patriots Sunday evening.
