In the Giants’ wins against the Patriots in the Super Bowl, much of the reason for their success was the ability to get pressure on the quarterback. Michael Strahan and Justin Tuck are no longer on the team, but the Giants’ defensive line got a huge boost last week with the return of Jason Pierre-Paul.

The Patriots have historically done a very good job protecting Brady, but this season they have been in the middle of the road at protecting their franchise quarterback. The Patriots rank 16th in the NFL with 18 sacks allowed this season, as getting pressure on Brady can be achieved with the injuries to their offensive line.

In 2015, the Giants have gotten zero pressure on quarterbacks, as they are dead last in the NFL with nine total sacks. Having Pierre-Paul back in the lineup should help those around him as he will still be a focal point of the Patriots’ blocking schemes.

Pierre-Paul played a majority of the snaps for the Giants in their win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and against the Patriots he will not only get his first sack of the season, but he will get to Brady twice.
