One team that could be a possible destination of Murphy in 2016 is the New York Yankees. In recent years, Yankees fans have poked fun at the Mets not willing to spend the money to keep young talented players like Matt Harvey, but with a need for a second baseman, could Murphy be in pinstripes next season?

The Yankees could certainly use the offensive production of Murphy at second base as they were handicapped by the poor season from Stephen Drew. The Yankees likely wouldn’t be able to use the versatility that Murphy offers, as they have Mark Teixeira and Greg Bird at first base along with Chase Headley at third base. The DH position is also currently occupied by Alex Rodriguez, as Murphy likely wouldn’t see any at-bats there on the aging Yankees.

In the farm system, the Yankees do like their prospect Rob Refsnyder, who had a cup of tea in the majors this season. The Yankees certainly need to improve at second base, but the big question will be how much they willing to spend at the position.
