The Mariners have spent a lot of money the past two offseason’s to improve their lineup, as Robinson Cano and Nelson Cruz both got big contracts to play in the great North West. With Cano locked in a second base, and Kyle Seager at third, the Mariners could look to add Murphy to play first base.

The addition of Murphy to the Mariners’ lineup could great help them become a deeper lineup with three real threats in the middle of the order. Seattle has become one of the teams that isn’t shy about spending money in the offseason, but it hasn’t quite resulted in what they have hoped to accomplish on the field. Adding Murphy to play first base makes a lot of sense for the Mariners who didn’t get very good production from that position in 2015.
