A big reason the Knicks 2014-15 season was torpedoed was because of the injury to Carmelo Anthony. Anthony battled nagging injuries throughout the season, but decided around the All-Star break that enough was enough, and shut it down after All-Star Weekend in New York. He underwent surgery to make sure he was ready for this season, and things have gone according to plan thus far.

Anthony got cleared just prior to training camp, but was practicing with his teammates in workouts before that, even taking part in five-on-five scrimmages. Once the preseason games rolled around, Anthony looked healthy as well. He was given a rest day along with some of his teammates on the second night of the only back-to-back the Knicks had in the preseason, but he came out of the preseason unscatched.

That was the main goal, to get him back healthy and ready to go for the regular season, and that is exactly what looks like will happen. The Knicks success, while they upgraded the roster, hinges on the health of Anthony. After missing so much of last season, you can be sure he will want to come out and show people that he is healthy and ready to carry the team once again.

While he will probably receive some maintenance days throughout the season, Anthony will avoid a catastrophic injury like he suffered last season that forced him out of the lineup for a lengthy period of time. He will play in at least 75 games for the second time in his Knicks tenure, leading the way in scoring once again.
