Ben Zobrist has never played for the Mets, but he is someone that their fans are very familiar with. Zobrist was one of the players the Mets were connected to a lot prior to the trade deadline, as the Mets and Oakland Athletics had some talks. The two teams did end up making trades, but none involved Zobrist; instead the Mets acquired Tyler Clippard and then Eric O’Flaherty.

While the Mets did well to shore up their offense by acquiring Juan Uribe and Kelly Johnson from the Atlanta Braves and then Yoenis Cespedes from the Detroit Tigers, they will see first hand what Zobrist can do.

The super utility man will hurt the Mets throughout the series, picking up countless hits and showing off just how versatile he is by playing at least three positions in the series. His position versatility will come in handy when the series shifts to Citi Field and NL rules, as he can moved virtually to every spot on the field outside catcher.

His bat will be what really hurts the Mets though, as he will pick up at least one hit in every game. It will result in a strong series for Zobrist, who will break .400 for batting average. While the Mets are obviously happy with the players that they ended up with, Zobrist will show them that he would have helped them just as much by hurting them in the World Series.
