For the first time all season the Giants were able to eclipse the 100 yard mark and it couldn’t have come at a better time. With the passing offense not able to get on track, the running game picked up the slack with a strong performance.

The Giants received an unlikely spark from Orleans Darkwa on their third drive of the game, when Darkwa surprisingly took over in the backfield. He responded in a big way, ripping off chunk gains of seven, nine and 10 yards. He would cash in from 15 yards out for his second career touchdown. It was the spark the Giants needed, as Darkwa ran for a career-high 48 yards on eight carries.

Shane Vereen was the leading rusher on the afternoon, as he piled up 56 yards on four carries. He ripped off a big 39-yard run to help set the Giants up for a field goal to take a seven point lead in the third quarter.

Disappointingly, Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams were unable to get in on the fun. Jennings finished the game with five rushes for 19 yards, while Williams had four for 13 yards. It would not be a surprise to see them lose some time to Darkwa and Vereen, who really saved the Giants this week against the Cowboys; they can only give Jennings and Williams so many chances before a change needs to be made.

All in all, the Giants gained 132 yards on 25 carries for an impressive 5.3 yards per carry. If they can finally figure out a way to get the running game on track, the Giants offense will become that much more dynamic.
