New York Jets (4-1) at New England Patriots (5-0)

The New York Jets rank second in pass and run defense. However, there’s one specific area that will favor the Patriots in a close AFC East showdown.

When it comes to winning games in the clutch, the quarterback means everything. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has played efficiently and likely finishes the season as the Jets starter. Unfortunately, he’s going to blink first in a matchup against Tom Brady.

Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie will limit scoring opportunities, but the Patriots offense will make a few more plays than the Jets offense that goes through droughts from time to time.

The Jets will fight down to the wire, but Brady leads his team to victory in the fourth quarter.

The Pick: New England Patriots

Houston Texans (2-4) vs. Miami Dolphins (2-3)

Apparently, the Miami Dolphins aren’t that bad. They just needed a coaching change to unlock their talent. Former Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin lost the locker room. Interim head coach Dan Campbell has relocated this team’s desire.

In Week 6, Miami’s defense allowed 299 total yards, the lowest amount through five games. The Dolphins will continue to play inspired and resemble the tough gritty team some expected to see with the addition of defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh in the middle.

The Houston Texans don’t have reliable quarterback play, and running back Arian Foster will struggle to find room to run against the Dolphins front seven.

The pick: Miami Dolphins

Cleveland Browns (2-4) at St. Louis Rams (2-3)

The Cleveland Browns have been exciting to watch this season. They’ve either won or lost by three points in the last three games, resulting in a 1-2 record. The Browns are struggling to close out victories with the worst run defense in the league.

The Rams picked up speed when running back Todd Gurley took the field. He accumulated 305 rushing yards in the last two outings.

The Browns’ inability to stop the run feeds into the Rams’ strength. St. Louis will control the clock and win decisively.
