It was not a fun evening for the New York Giants Monday night. They lost in an ugly, sloppy game on the road to the Philadelphia Eagles 27-7, as the Giants couldn’t get out of their own way.

Things started out about as good as you could ask for in a football game. The Giants took the opening drive of the game 80 yards for a touchdown as they picked up right from where they left off last week against the San Francisco 49ers. After holding the Eagles to a three-and-out, the Giants looked like they were going to blow the doors off their NFC East rival, as they began driving down the field once again.

But, then Larry Donnell had a pass from Eli Manning ripped out of his hands by DeMeco Ryans, and everything was downhill from there. After gaining 120 yards on those first two drives, the Giants managed to gain only 127 the remainder of the game. Thats 127 yards the last three-plus quarters of game; that will never get it done even if you have an elite defense.

An elite defense isn’t something the Giants possess though. They did what they could to keep the Giants in the game, but the offense just never got anything going, as the defense was gassed in the second half as the Eagles fast paced offense began taking a toll on the Giants shorthanded defense.

With the loss, the Giants now fall into a tie for the NFC East lead with the Eagles, technically being in second place because they lost the head-to-head matchup. This makes the Giants’ matchup with the Dallas Cowboys that much more important in Week 7, as they now have to keep pace in the division instead of setting the pace.

Before we start breaking that game down though, let’s delve deeper in the Monday night game against the Eagles. Here are the Giants full team grades from their disastrous Monday night matchup with the Eagles.
