The Giants were not relying on their rushing attack much against the 49ers. Despite the lesser workload, the Giants turned in one of their stronger performances on the ground. That is not saying much with how poor it has been this season, but there was some improvement at least.

Rashad Jennings had the most touches, getting 11 carries and gaining 46 yards while Vereen had five for 24. The 4.2 and 4.8 yards per carry for them respectively are their highest single game marks for the season. Andre Williams received three carries in the game and did nothing with them, gaining zero yards. Manning was able to gain 11 yards on a scramble for the longest rush of the night for the Giants.

While Manning was able to bail them out tonight, the Giants need to get the ground game going so that they do not have to rely on him solely. The 4.0 yards per carry average is better than what they have been doing, but it is still not a strong number. It is something they need to figure out in the coming weeks as no team can sustain success without a rushing game.

Against the 49ers, the Giants gained 84 yards on 21 carries as they had to abandon the run at times to throw the ball and get up the field quick.
