New York Giants are a good pick ATS in Week 5

Our Week 5 picks are ready to be made after the New York Giants helped Kenny take an early lead in our against the spread picks in Week 4.

Standings:

Kenny (8-6-0)

Nick (5-9-0)

Like last week, our spreads are from Covers.com.

Chicago Bears (+10) vs. Kansas City Chiefs (-10)

Kenny: Chiefs (-10) With so many weapons possibly out in the passing game, namely Alshon Jeffery and Eddie Royal, it will be tough for the Bears to keep up with the Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium. It could get ugly fast.

Nick: Bears (+10)

I do believe that the Chiefs will win this game but I haven’t been impressed by them enough to think that they can beat anyone by 10 points.  The Chiefs are best-suited to grind out games which should allow the Bears to keep it close.

Seattle Seahawks (+3) vs. Cincinnati Bengals (-3)

Kenny: Bengals (-3) With Marshawn Lynch out, the Seahawks offense is that much less appealing. Thomas Rawls struggled a bit as the starter last week against the Lions, and with the game on the road this time it could be tough once again.

Nick: Bengals (-3)

The Seahawks haven’t looked like the team we saw last season so far in 2015. Without Marshawn Lynch again in Week 5, I’ll believe in the Bengals for another week.

Washington Redskins (+7) vs. Atlanta Falcons (-7)

Kenny: Falcons (-7) The Falcons offense is flying high, and the Redskins don’t have the personnel defensively to keep up. The Redskins have alternated wins and losses this season, and this looks like one they will not be able to keep up in.

Nick: Falcons (-7)

I made the mistake of picking against the Falcons at home last week and I will not make that mistake again this week in a battle of two of the more surprising teams in 2015.

Jacksonville Jaguars (+2.5) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2.5)

Kenny: Buccaneers (-2.5) If you like ugly football, this is the game for you. Blake Bortles and Jameis Winston are turnover machines, as this one projects as a low scoring affair. The Bucs will come away with a field goal victory.

Nick: Jaguars (+2.5)

It’s hard to like either the Jaguars or the Buccaneers in this game. I’ll take Blake Bortles and the points against Jameis Winston, who has been turnover-prone early in his career.

New Orleans Saints (+6) vs. Philadelphia Eagles (-6)

Kenny: Eagles (-6) The Saints were a little lucky to come away with a victory last week. Now heading on the road things could get shaky again. The Eagles offense flashed last week, and the Saints do not have a defense that will keep them from getting going again.

Nick: Saints (+6)

The Eagles continue to struggle on both sides of the ball this season. Drew Brees and his hurt shoulder looked good against the Dallas Cowboys, making him and the points very appealing.

Cleveland Browns (+6) vs. Baltimore Ravens (-6)

Kenny: Ravens (-6) The Ravens season was given second life courtesy of the Steelers in their Thursday night game last week. They will build off that momentum even without Steve Smith Sr., relying on Justin Forsett in the backfield against one of the worst run defenses in the NFL.

Nick: Browns (+6)

The injury to Steve Smith Sr. is one that the Ravens will be unable to overcome with their lack of talent on the offensive side of the ball. I like the Browns in this game and also wouldn’t be shocked if they flat out win.

St. Louis Rams (+10) vs. Green Bay Packers (-10)

Kenny: Rams (+10) The Rams brutal start to the season continues into Green Bay against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Their defense should be able to keep this game from being a blowout and under double digits. Expect a lot of Todd Gurley early and often against a below average Packers run defense.

Nick: Packers (-10)

The Rams looked very good last week against the Arizona Cardinals with Todd Gurley showing us all why he was a top draft pick this year. Even though the Rams are playing well, I’ll take the best quarterback in the game at home.

Buffalo Bills (-1) vs. Tennessee Titans (+1)

Kenny: Bills (-1) The Bills had a rough go at it against the Giants last week, showing their lack of discipline and costing themselves. The Bills will be without LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams, but that means they will just have the ball in the hands of the dual threat Tyrod Taylor, which will give fits to the Titans.

Nick: Titans (+1)

The Bills are coming into Tennessee banged up without LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams. We saw last week that the Bills’ offense can struggle with key players out and the Titans have had two weeks to prepare to steal this one at home.

Arizona Cardinals (-3) vs. Detroit Lions (+3)

Kenny: Cardinals (-3) The Lions season is essentially over with an 0-4 start. It will be tough to avoid 0-5 with a Cardinals team looking to bounce back from a difficult loss last week as well.

Nick: Cardinals (-3)

The Cardinals made a lot of mistakes at home against the Rams on Sunday and that led to their first loss of the season. The Lions are coming off a short week with a long trip back from Seattle and that is good news for the Cardinals to get the road win.

New England Patriots (-8.5) vs. Dallas Cowboys (+8.5)

Kenny: Patriots (-8.5) Coming off a bye week how can you pick against the Patriots? Tom Brady will pick apart the Cowboys with Rob Gronkowski and Dion Lewis, blowing the Cowboys out of the water as they do not have the offensive firepower to keep up.

Nick: Patriots (-8.5)

It is almost impossible to pick against the Patriots with how great Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski look this season. The Cowboys are still without Tony Romo and Dez Bryant which makes this an recipe for disaster for Dallas on Sunday.

Denver Broncos (-4) vs. Oakland Raiders (+4)

Kenny: Raiders (+4) The Broncos have had a lot of close calls this season, making them a difficult team to predict. The Raiders are improving, and coming back home they should give Peyton Manning and company a game. This isn’t the same old Raiders of recent seasons.

Nick: Broncos (-4)

The Broncos avoided a collapse in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings to remain undefeated. The Raiders are one of the teams that are trying to take the crown for the Broncos, but that won’t happen this week.

San Francisco 49ers  (+6.5) vs. New York Giants (-6.5)

Kenny: Giants (-6.5) With so many injuries on the defensive end led by Devon Kennard, Robert Ayers and George Selvie, the 49ers abysmal offense may look a little better. But their defense is still poor so Eli Manning should be able to pull out a touchdown victory

Nick: Giants (-6.5)

Colin Kaepernick looks awful right now and the 49ers are traveling to the East Coast for a Sunday Night Football matchup. The time zone would come into play more if this was an early game, but the Giants should be able to handle a dreadful 49ers offense even with some injuries on the defensive side.

Pittsburgh Steelers (-4) vs. San Diego Chargers (+4)

Kenny: Steelers (-4) The Steelers aren’t as good with Michael Vick under center instead of Ben Roethlisberger, but there is still a ton of talent offensively. The Chargers defense got lit up by the Browns and Luke McCown last week, and the Steelers should do much of the same.

Nick: Steelers (-4)

The Steelers played well with Michael Vick under center in a loss to the Ravens on Thursday Night Football last week. Le’Veon Bell was a workhorse in that game, and he will be a workhorse again in a Steelers win on the West Coast.
