With the Giants as seven-point favorites, it means Las Vegas expects them to win the game rather easily. With that being the case, it means the Giants could rely on their running game more than they have at any point this season. Jennings is the nominal starter, but his job security is far from secure; if he wants to keep it this could be a game to help that.
Jennings is averaging an abysmal 3.2 yards per carry this season, as the Giants running game has struggled as a whole throughout the season. But, Jennings has saved fantasy football owners twice this season, scoring a rushing touchdown Week 1 and receiving one with an impressive catch-and-run last week against the Bills.
While Jennings hasn’t been able to put together consecutive strong games this season, the 49ers defense will give him that chance. While Jennings is far from a spring chicken, that will actually help him it seems this weekend if trends continue from the 2015 season. The two biggest games this season against the 49ers have come from two players that people thought were well past their prime and over the hill; Chris Johnson and DeAngelo Williams. They combined for 187 yards rushing, five touchdowns and five receptions for 46 yards. That is upper tier RB1 numbers, coming close to being the highest scorer in fantasy football each week.
Game flow should be in the Giants favor, meaning Jennings should get more chances this week than he normally does. While Andre Williams may vulture him near the end zone, Jennings should be given the first chance on early down work and make a dent against the 49ers. He has legitimate RB2 upside against their porous defense, and his DFS salary ($,4,500 DK, $6,200 FD) make him a low priced, high upside player to use in tournaments as his own percentage will probably not be high.
