Chase Headley has been a surprise hitter so far this year, but he needs to cut down the errors playing defense from third this postseason. Mandatory Credit: Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Third Base: Chase Headley

Other options: Alex Rodriguez, Dustin Ackley

Analysis: This should be a no brainer. The Yankee’s brought in Headley again this year to serve as our full-time third baseman. To not see him in the first game of the playoffs at his position would be shocking. Alex Rodriguez has only played 4 games at the position this year and Dustin Ackley won’t be seen unless he is forced into that position by either injury prior to the game or for illness.  Headley will be out there almost without a doubt on October 6th.

Shortstop: Didi Gregorius

Other Options: Stephen Drew, Brendan Ryan

Analysis: It would be shocking to see anyone besides Gregorius playing shortstop next Tuesday. He has played 148 games at the position this year while Drew has played 15, and Ryan only five. He has been hot since the beginning of August and plays solid defense.

People were worried when Derek Jeter retired, leaving a huge hole to fill at that position, and whoever filled it would be a downgrade. Well, as it turns out, Didi has played better than expected and anchors the position now with ease compared to the beginning of the season. Expect him to make only a few mistakes this postseason and continue to impress us all. Like Chase Headley, expect to see him out there without a doubt come Tuesday.
