9. Los Angeles Dodgers (87-68) The Dodgers have been struggling recently as they are heading into the final week and postseason backwards. They got swept by the Rockies and have lost seven of their last nine games. Despite that, they are still leading the NL West by six games, which means one more win or Giants loss will wrap it up for them. Will that to start the week? The Dodgers will be traveling to take on the Giants in a four-game series as the Giants will be trying to keep the Dodgers from celebrating at their home park.

8. Texas Rangers (84-71) Cole Hamels has shown exactly why the Rangers wanted to acquire him at the deadline, as he finally looks to be getting comfortable in Texas. Hamels has won five straight decisions, and the Rangers have won the last eight times he has taken the mound. The rotation has been shuffled so that he can get two starts to end the regular season, because the Rangers are now 2.5 games ahead in the AL West. If they can handle business against the Tigers to start the week, it will make things a lot less stressful this weekend when they host the Angels for four games. The Angels will be playing for a playoff spot, but by that time the Rangers could have theirs locked up.

7. New York Yankees (86-69) The Yankees just can no€™t catch breaks, as the Blue Jays just have not lost many games. Losing a series to them this past week probably put the AL East out of reach, but they put a stranglehold on the top spot in the Wild Card race it looks like taking three of four from the White Sox. With Masahiro Tanaka ailing though, is it possible that rookie Luis Severino could get the ball in the single elimination Wild Card game? It would be hard to make a case against him, as he has given up more than two runs only twice in his 10 starts; both times it was against the loaded Blue Jays.
