24. Miami Marlins (69-87) Despite having little to play for, the Marlins have shown up to the park every day and brought it. Their five-game winning streak is currently tied with the Angels for the longest in baseball as the Marlins beat up on fellow NL East bottom feeders in the Braves and Phillies this past week. It is kind of an achievement for the Marlins to not lose 100 games this season given the injuries to Giancarlo Stanton and Jose Fernandez, but also because they were well on the pace heading into September. But a 16-7 in September thus far has them looking to end the season on a high note.
23. Detroit Tigers (72-83) The Tigers are one of the bigger disappointments in baseball this season as their pitching staff came up woefully short. Even with a chance to carve out a role as the closer next season, Bruce Rondon was sent home for not showing the necessary effort. Even with talks about Brad Ausmus being in trouble, he will be brought back to manage the team in 2016. If they cannot get him some pitching though, it will probably be his last season. This offense is still loaded with Miguel Cabrera, Ian Kinsler and J.D. Martinez, but the pitching staff needs major upgrades. The loss of Max Scherzer proved to more than they could replace as this team needs pretty much an upheaval of the staff.
22. Seattle Mariners (74-82) The Mariners are one of the bigger disappointments in baseball this season. They came into 2015 with some decent expectations because they finally looked to have the hitting to go with their pitching after signing Nelson Cruz. Well, Cruz did his part but the rest of the team fell short. Robinson Cano did no€™t get going until July and is on pace to finish with the second lowest batting average of his career. Also, the pitching came up well short of expectations, as Taijuan Walker struggled at times and Hisashi Iwakuma and James Paxton were sidelined for chunks of the season. They could still leave a lasting impact on this season though, as their three-game series to start the week against the Astros could make or break their season.
