The Giants special teams were solid for a majority of the game, but had their lapses in this one as well.

Dwayne Harris didn’t have the same opportunities he had in the return game as last week, and his only punt return was canceled out with an offsetting penalties. But, it was a worthwhile bring back as Jennings blocked the second attempt. The muffled fumble could have changed the tide of the game, but Orleans Dwarka was able to pounce on it and retain possession for the Giants.

Josh Brown continues to be rock solid in the kicking game. He made all three of his field goal attempts, knocking them in from 35, 36 and 48 yards away. He also connected on all three of his extra points, as the extra yardage on the extra points as not phased Brown.

One area he could improve in though is kickoffs. Brown isn’t kicking many touchbacks, and tonight it hurt the Giants. Rashad Ross was able to take a kickoff to the house for a 100 yard kick return touchdown when the Giants were trying to ice the game to make things a little tense. Ross finished the game with 158 yards on four returns.

Punting also continues to be business as usual for the Giants. Brad Wing has brought some stability here, as he is constantly pining the opposing offense in poor field position and limiting returns. Against the Redskins, Wing punted four times for 171 yards with a long of 45, planting two of them inside the 20. Jamison Crowder was only able to return one of those punts, and gained 10 yards.

The Giants onside kick recovery was also a little spotty. Randle had one of them go off his foot when he tried to field a ball he should have let go out of bounds. He was bailed out by Shane Vereen who was in the right place at the right time. On the next attempt, Randle again failed to catch the onside kick. This time the ball went right through his hands and made it out of bounds, but he suffered a bone crushing hit in the process and whiffed on a recovery for the second time in two tries.
