3.) Johnny Boychuk

Islanders’ general manager Garth Snow knew that he needed to add some veteran leadership last offseason and he made that a priority. Heading into a contract season, the Islanders were able to make a deal with the Boston Bruins to acquire Johnny Boychuk.

Like they did with Nick Leddy, the Islanders also signed Boychuk to a long-term deal, which may make him a part of the Islanders for the rest of his career.

In his first season with the Islanders, Boychuk set new career-highs across the board at 31-years-old. Last season, Boychuk totaled 35 points, nine goals, 26 assists, five power play goals, 10 power play assists, and a +15 +/- ratio.

Boychuk’s career-highs across the board and his leadership were a big part to the Islanders’ success last season.
