10.) Travis Hamonic
Last season was a breakout year for Islanders’ defenseman Travis Hamonic. In his fifth season, Hamonic matched his career-high in goals with five, and also set a new career-high with 28 assists.
The additions of Johnny Boychuk and Nick Leddy seemed to have a very positive impact on Hamonic, who had the best season of his young career. At 25-years-old, Hamonic still has time to grow as a hockey player and the 2014-15 season was a big step forward.
Hamonic has always been an aggressive player on the offensive end, but he seemed to be a more efficient player last season and that helped the Islanders’ defense really improve.
