Prediction

This contest should end with a similar score to the Giants’ previous game minus the late fourth-quarter breakdown.

The Giants matchup favorably against the Falcons with a strong secondary. Collins has to make adjustments, but Brandon Meriweather put together a solid performance at strong safety.

Amukamara and Rodgers-Cromartie will surrender some catches to Jones and White, but nothing of major significance. Don’t expect another monster performance from Jones on Sunday. Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo should find success in bracketing Jones deep which forces Ryan to look elsewhere to rack up yards in chunks.

Falcons running back Tevin Coleman carried the ball 20 times, but amassed 80 yards, averaging four yards per carry in Week 1. Atlanta’s bread and butter still heavily relies on passing plays to break the game open.

Giants running back Shane Vereen should continue to see a steady workload as a viable receiver out of the backfield. He caught four passes for 46 yards in Week 1.

Quarterback Eli Manning will need Vereen’s sure hands with underwhelming performances from wide receivers Reuben Randle and Preston Parker against a weak Cowboys secondary.

Manning’s connection with Vereen serves as a critical key point in the Giants winning this game. New York should find success with a short passing attack and pull out a close victory.

Giants 24, Falcons 20
