Julio Jones vs. Prince Amukamara
Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara contained Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant for three quarters and a third. Now, he faces another elite wide receiver in the league.
Wide receiver Julio Jones embarrassed Eagles cornerback Byron Maxwell in his last outing. He recorded nine catches for 141 yards and two touchdowns on Monday Night Football.
The Falcons wide receiver just signed a five-year deal worth a little more than $70 million, and he’s already showing why he’s worth every penny.
Ryan put that money to use, targeting Jones 11 times in Week 1. Amukarama should expect a lot of action on the outside Sunday. Another solid performance from the Giants’ starting cornerback would serve as the key to decelerating the Falcons explosive vertical attack.
At 34 years old, wide receiver Roddy White continues on a moderate decline. He recorded 1,000-plus yards in six consecutive seasons from 2007-12, but in the last two years, he’s missed that mark. White still lines up as a solid No. 2 wide receiver, but he’s matched with a solid cornerback in Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
The Falcons still rely on the pass to put up points quickly, and Jones bears a lot of the burden as Ryan’s primary weapon of choice.
