8.) San Diego Chargers (1-0)
Arguably the best offensive performance of Week 1 came from the San Diego Chargers. In their come from behind win against the Detroit Lions, the Chargers were able to score 33 points behind a strong game from their passing offense.
Philip Rivers led the way for the Chargers by totaling 404 passing yards on 35-for-42 passing. Rivers’ main target was wide receiver Keenan Allen, who totaled 15 receptions and 166 receiving yards.
Beating a playoff team from last season is a good sign for the Chargers in 2015.
7.) Dallas Cowboys (1-0)
Sunday Night Football was one of the wildest games of the weekend. A few mistakes by the Giants down the stretch allowed the Cowboys to sneak out a one-point win at home. In the win, Tony Romo played very well with 356 passing yards and three passing touchdowns.
The main target for Romo was his good buddy Jason Witten who had a big game with two receiving touchdowns. The win did come with a casualty, as star wide receiver Dez Bryant broke his foot and will be out 4-8 weeks.
6.) Miami Dolphins (1-0)
The Miami Dolphins have a lot of expectations heading into the 2015 season. In Week 1, the Dolphins got off to a very slow start against the Washington Redskins, as it took a strong fourth quarter to get them the victory.
One of their reasons for struggling was that Redskins’ running back Alfred Morris had a fantastic game. Morris totaled 121 rushing yards against Ndamukong Suh and the Dolphins’ defense. On the offensive side of the ball, the Dolphins disappointed too, as they only produced 10 points against what is supposed to be a bad defense in Washington.
5.) Buffalo Bills (1-0)
There were a lot of changes this offseason in Buffalo and that resulted in a Week 1 statement against the Indianapolis Colts. The Bills’ defense may be one of the best in the league in 2015, and they showed that in Week 1 by shutting down a talented Colts offense.
Tyrod Taylor won the starting QB job in camp this season and played pretty effectively in Week 1. In the win, Taylor totaled 195 passing yards, one passing touchdown, and 41 rushing yards. The main question about the Bills in 2015 will be how Taylor does as a quarterback. After one week, Rex Ryan looks like he has a very good team on his hands after they beat one of the best teams in the AFC.
