20.) Philadelphia Eagles (0-1)
The Philadelphia Eagles kicked off the dual Monday Night Football games on the road against the Atlanta Falcons. In their Week 1 loss to the Falcons, the Eagles got off to a very slow start on offense, which ended up coming back to bite them.
A bit of a blunder by the Eagles’ coaching staff late in the fourth quarter rushed kicker Cody Parkey onto the field for an attempt at a field goal to take the lead. Parkey barely got the kick off before a delay of game, and it resulted in a miss to the right.
Kelly may be kicking himself for the rest of the season for not going for it on the fourth and short instead of trying to kick the field goal.
19.) Baltimore Ravens (0-1)
The Baltimore Ravens had a tough matchup in Week 1 on the road against the Denver Broncos, but instead of an offensive battle it was a defensive slugfest in Denver. Both teams had a hard time moving the football and that resulted in a low-scoring game.
One of the biggest plays of the game benefitted the Broncos greatly, as Joe Flacco threw a pick-six to Aqib Talib. In the loss, Flacco didn’t play well, as he totaled 117 passing yards and two interceptions. In addition to losing the game, the Ravens also lost Terrell Suggs for the season with a torn Achilles.
18.) Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1)
The Pittsburgh Steelers got a tough draw in their schedule having to play the Patriots in Week 1 after they won the Super Bowl. The Steelers were without star running back Le’Veon Bell due to his suspension, but DeAngelo Williams filled in great for him.
In Week 1, Williams totaled 127 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. The Steelers offense overall played very well, as Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown both played very well. The Steelers will need to improve their defense during the season, but their offense has the capability to carry them to great things.
17.) Seattle Seahawks (0-1)
The Seattle Seahawks are the best of the teams that lost in Week 1, as the defending NFC Champions got off to a difficult start against the St. Louis Rams, but that loss will keep them out of the top half of the NFL Power Rankings for this week as the best 0-1 team
After a questionable call to throw the ball in the Super Bowl, the Seahawks threw the ball a lot in Week 1. Russell Wilson totaled 251 passing yards on 41 passing attempts with one touchdown pass.
Wilson’s lone passing touchdown pass went to his new weapon Jimmy Graham, who totaled six receptions and 51 receiving yards in his debut with the Seahawks. The Seahawks’ defense struggled against the Rams, who made a lot of mistakes that the Seahawks usually capitalize on.
It is only Week 1, but the Seahawks already find themselves trailing the motivated Arizona Cardinals in the standings.
