This is the biggest series of the season for both teams. Unfortunately, the Mets are coming into it on a low note without much momentum, while the Nationals are riding high and playing some of their best baseball of the 2015 season. That will be a factor in the outcome of this one, as the Nationals will ride that momentum into this series and come out victorious.

The Nationals will pick up the series win, taking the opener and finale in this one to inch closer in the NL East face. The Mets will see their lead shrink from four to three games, and the only thing that will keep fans from enterting extreme panic mode and a one-game lead will be the much scrutinized Matt Harvey. Yes, we are predicting that the player Mets fans have been cursing the last few days will be the same ones praising him when he defeats the hated Nationals to help keep the Mets ahead in the NL East.

Too bad he cannot pitch every game though, as the Mets will lose the games that Niese and Jacob deGrom pitch. It will put immense pressure on the Mets to perform this weekend against the lowly Atlanta Braves, as their road trip will be off to a very poor start with series losses to the Marlins and Nationals to start things off.

While the Mets will not yet be in full on panic mode, losing this series to the Nationals will not make them feel any better about themselves. But, at the end of the day, they will still be leading the division by three games come Thursday night; a much better position that the Nationals will be in trailing by three.
