15. Seattle Mariners (66-71) Where was this Mariners team throughout the first months of the season? They are tied for the longest current winning streak in baseball with the Nationals, fully embracing their role as spoiler. They took two of three from the Astros before sweeping the Athletics over the weekend. That gave them a successful road trip in which they went 7-3 on. Franklin Gutierrez and Ketel Marte have brought an added dimension to the team offensively, while Mark Trumbo found his power stroke with three home runs in the week. Strong pitching performances from Felix Hernandez and Hisashi Iwakuma gave a glimpse into what could have been for the Mariners this season.

14. San Francisco Giants (71-66) It looks like the Giants season could have come to an end this past week. They lost to the Dodgers in excruciating fashion, getting swept out of Los Angeles in a series they should have easily swept themselves as each game was decided by one run. Unfortunately, they didn’t have Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw take the mound and their offense came up short. Marlon Byrd has performed as well as the Giants could have hoped for though, as he has 18 RBI in 17 games since being acquired from the Reds.

13. Minnesota Twins (70-66) The Twins got off to a good start to last week, taking the first two from the White Sox. But, things fell apart after that, as they lost three of the next four. They sit only 1.5 games behind the Rangers for the last playoff spot, but they cannot afford many more stretches like that. They have an important road trip finishing up this week, as they will visit the Royals and White Sox in what could be a deciding stretch of games for the Twins season. Getting the offense on track is imperative, as Miguel Sano is dinged up and he was a big source of their production recently.
