18. Chicago White Sox (65-70) The White Sox started the week poorly, losing two straight to the Twins but they ended it with a bang. They took the series finale against them before sweeping the Royals in Kansas City to totally change the outcome of their road trip. That sweep kept them within a puncher’s chance of a Wild Card spot, as they currently sit six games out. They have an excellent chance to continue moving up, as they start a homestand this week against the Indians and Twins. With Chris Sale going twice, the White Sox have a legitimate chance to make some noise if they can continue hitting like they did against the Royals over the weekend.

17. Tampa Bay Rays (67-69) The Rays were able to take two of three from the Orioles to start the week, but losing two of three to the Yankees may have done them in. A late in the game home run barrage from the Yankees ruined a great start from Chris Archer, and puts the Rays 4.5 games out of a Wild Card spot. The Rays will finish their road trip in Detroit before heading home to host the Red Sox. They will need a strong showing if they want to stay in the playoff race, but as each day passes it seems less and less likely they will make the postseason.

16. Cleveland Indians (66-69) The Indians were able to continue their winning streak in the first game of the series against the Blue Jays, but were tripped up over the last two. They bounced back though against the Tigers over the weekend, taking two of three to break even during the week. Currently sitting five games out of the Wild Card spot they have an outside chance of getting in, but with Corey Kluber and Carlos Carrasco ailing, it will be difficult to continue moving up without their two best pitchers. Josh Tomlin has stepped up in their absence though, as he tossed a complete game against the Tigers, picking up the win while allowing only one run.
