27. Colorado Rockies (56-80) The Rockies had eight games this past week because of a double-header against the Diamondbacks, and came away with a 4-4 record. But the bigger story is what Carlos Gonzalez and Nolan Arenado have done at the plate. Arenado had a six-game home run streak snapped Sunday, trying to keep pace with CarGo in the NL home run race. Gonzalez, not to be outdone, hit multiple homers in back-to-back games for the second time this season, hitting five in a three game span as well. That leaves them both tied at 36 and will be the reason to tune in to the Rockies the remainder of the season.

26. Miami Marlins (57-80) The Marlins didn’t get Giancarlo Stanton back from the DL this weekend as they had hoped, as he was not ready, but they still had a successful week. They were part of the whooping that the Braves have been taking recently, sweeping them to start the week. Then, they played spoiler against the Mets, taking two of three over the weekend for a strong start to their homestand. They will now host the Brewers and Nationals this week, trying to keep their strong play going and play spoiler once again. Also, this past week, they announced that Dan Jennings will be removed from the managerial role and return to the front office full time after the season concludes.

25. Oakland Athletics (58-79) If not for the Braves, the Athletics would be riding the longest losing streak in baseball right now. The Athletics have found themselves in the loss column for five consecutive games, losing the last two in the series to the Angels before being swept by the Mariners. The pitching has been a letdown, even Cy Young hopeful Sonny Gray, who has seen his ERA rise for three straight starts. Things don’t look like they will get any better for the Athletics either, as they host the Astros before heading out on a 10 game road trip that will start in Texas against the Rangers.
