– Bronx Bombers led the way

In the Yankees’ win on Friday night, they were carried by the long ball, as their nickname the Bronx Bombers was earned.

Alex Rodriguez got the Yankees started with a two-run home run in the second inning which scored Brian McCann. The home run for Rodriguez was his 27th of the season and gave Severino the lead early to work with.

McCann would continue his great career numbers against Rays’ starter Jake Odorizzi in the fourth inning with a solo home run which was his 24th of the season.

Greg Bird would hit the third home run of the game for the Yankees in the seventh inning which scored McCann. Bird has the big responsibility of filling in for the injured Mark Teixeira, and that means that having some pop will be important to help replace the production that the Yankees are missing with Teixeira out of the lineup.
