The regular season is right around the corner for the New York Jets and that means that their roster had to be trimmed down to 53 players.
It was a fairly successful preseason for the Jets after they were able to get over the Geno Smith incident with IK Enemkpali. The Jets finished the preseason with a 3-1 record after the opening loss to the Detroit Lions, and there were a lot of players that performed well.
The Quarterback situation will be monitored throughout the season with Ryan Fitzpatrick as the fill in for Smith. If Fitzpatrick plays well in the regular season like he did in the preseason, Smith may have a tough time getting his job back. Rookie Bryce Petty also showed signs of being a future possibility at the quarterback position, as he also had a strong preseason.
Although players did well for the Jets in the preseason, the preseason still doesn’t mean anything. The Jets will be hosting the Cleveland Browns in Week 1 on September 13th, and we now know who they will have as their 53-man roster.
There were a few surprises announced in the cuts as the Jets moved to the 53-man roster.
Here are the players that will likely be on the team to start the season against the Cleveland Browns.
