October of the 2010 season was a memorable one for Umenyiora. Not only did the Giants roll to a 4-0 record with wins over the Chicago Bears, Houston Texans, Detroit Lions and Cowboys, Umenyiora also dominated.

Umenyiora had his best stretch of football in his career sacks wise, as he racked up seven in a three game span, getting three against the Bears and then two against the Texans and Lions each. In addition to the sack totals, Umenyiora also forced a ridiculous six fumbles in those three games, getting two in each.

In the month, Umenyiora also added 18 tackles, 10 of which were solo. That, along with his sack and forced fumble numbers earned him the NFC Defensive Player of the Month award for October.

That month helped propel Umenyiora to a strong season with 11.5 sacks and an NFL record 10 forced fumbles. He also earned Second Team All-NFL honors from the Associated Press, as the 11.5 sacks were the third most he ever had in a single season.
