15. Los Angeles Angels (63-61) Los Angeles baseball is in a bit of a rut right now. Right behind the Dodgers and their losing streak is the Angels, who are riding a four-game one of their own. After taking the first three games of their series against the White Sox, they lost the finale before getting shell shocked by the Blue Jays hard hitting offense. They will look to get things back on track on a road trip that will start in the AL Central against the Tigers and Indians. Mike Trout getting out of his August swoon would help with a lot of the problems this team is having, as he is the engine that makes this machine go. They are also still struggling to get consistent production out of left field despite the moves they made at the trade deadline.
14. Arizona Diamondbacks (62-61) The Diamondbacks have finally gotten back over the .500 hump by ending their road trip on a high note with a four-game sweep of the lowly Reds. With the Giants and Dodgers both reeling, the Diamondbacks have climbed into the NL West picture, sitting only five games behind. They will be taking a lot of momentum into their homestand this week, and if they can steal a series from the Cardinals to start the week people will have to start paying attention to Diamondbacks, who are finally starting to get some solid pitching behind a stellar offense led by A.J. Pollock and MVP candidate Paul Goldschmidt.
13. Washington Nationals (62-61) Are the Nationals finally awakening from their slumber? After dropping under .500 in the middle of the week, the Nationals responded with two decisive wins to finish out the weekend and get back over .500. The offense finally woke up, as players other than Bryce Harper finally produced. Anthony Rendon looks to finally be getting things going, while Michael Taylor has found his power stroke. If the Nationals are to keep up with the Mets they will have to handle business over the remainder of their homestand this week against the Padres and Marlins.
