24. Milwaukee Brewers (51-68) On a modest three-game winning streak, the Brewers are enjoying things after sweeping the Phillies over the weekend. That followed them getting swept by the red-hot Cubs to start the week. Wily Peralta put together his best start since coming off the DL, and Taylor Jungmann continues to be a pleasant surprise. Ryan Braun also tied Robin Yount on the Brewers all-time home run list this weekend with a bomb off Aaron Harang Sunday. He is also closing in on a 20/20 season, something no one could have predicted at the beginning of the season.
23. Seattle Mariners (55-63) Taking two of three to start the week made it seem like the Mariners may get back into this thing, but then the weekend happened and they were pounded by the Red Sox, surrendering 45 runs in three games. At the middle of that drubbing was Felix Hernandez, who imploded to the tune of 10 earned runs and 12 hits in only 2 ⅓ innings pitched. On a positive note though, Robinson Cano finally looks like Robinson Cano. Even though it is a little late to get things going, Cano is making up for the horrid first three months he had, as he is hitting .319 with 11 home runs since June 22nd and already has six multi-hit games in his last 12 with a .389 average and 1.025 OPS.
22. Boston Red Sox (52-65) Baseball is the last thing on the minds of the people within the Red Sox organization, as their manager John Farrell was diagnosed with lymphoma. His team responded in a big way after it was announced, as they pounded the Mariners 15-1 and 22-10 in the two games following the announcement. It was a strong start to a homestand that will continue this week with the Indians and Royals paying a visit. Will the Red Sox have Hanley Ramirez available to use? People have forgotten him a little with how well Jackie Bradley Jr. has done replacing him.
