Matchups with LeBron James are always highlight worthy. He is still the best player in the world, and it is always a sight to see him play, even when it is against your favorite team. The Cavaliers will be on a mission this season to try and avenge their loss in the NBA Finals last season to the Golden State Warriors and as long as LeBron is on the court will be tough to beat.
But, the Knicks always get up for big games, and this constitutes as one. Before the season went off the rails last year, people forget that the Knicks actually knocked off the Cavaliers in their home opener. Carmelo Anthony led the way with 25 points as the second game of the season, and first win for the Knicks, was arguably the high point of their disappointing season.
This will be the first time the Knicks return to Cleveland since then, as the last two matchups of the season between the two teams were held at Madison Square Garden. Will the Knicks be able to pull off the upset for a second consecutive season? Even with an improved team on paper, it will be a tall task to knock off a LeBron James-led team with revenge on their mind.
We will also see another friendly face in this matchup, as the Cavaliers retained fan-favorite Iman Shumpert in the offseason. Could J.R. Smith be joining him once again as well in the near future? This will also be the first of seven nationally televised games the Knicks will be a part of this season.
