New Rules For Giants?

Taking a look at the offensive depth chart, you may see something fishy for the Giants; they have 12 players listed as starters. No, the NFL did not change their rules for players allowed on the field at one time, sorry New England Patriots. Instead, the Giants are giving players the nomination of being a starter, because they deserve it.

The Giants are extremely deep at wide receiver this season with Victor Cruz returning from injury, reigning Rookie of the Year Odell Beckham Jr. and the underrated Reuben Randle. Understandably, the Giants coaches in Tom Coughlin and Ben McAdoo want them on the field as much as possible. Because of that, the Giants will more than likely use a three-receiver set as their base offensive set. So, all three are listed as starters in case the Giants use that to start the game.

In case the gameplan is changed for a week, and the Giants want to go with a heavier, more basic set, veteran Henry Hynoski is listed as a starter at fullback. If the Giants want to run the ball, Hynoski will be on the field as the lead blocker. Entering his fifth season as an undrafted free agent out of Pittsburgh, Hynoski bounced back in 2014 from an injury plagued 2013, appearing in all 16 games and starting four.

The depth the Giants are building at the skill positions on offense is promising, as they have a number of weapons at their disposal for Eli Manning to use. Whether it be a spread base set, or a more traditional one with a fullback on the field, the Giants will be looking to exploit their opponents with an impressive set of skill players.
