Since coming over to the Mets in a trade from the Detroit Tigers, Yoenis Cespedes has performed as well as the Mets had hoped he would. He has gone 11-for-34 at the plate, slashing .324/.343/.412. The Mets have gone 6-2 in the games Cespedes has played in, as his presence has been felt right from the start.

But, one thing the Mets and their fans are still waiting for is Cespedes to hit his first home run with the Amazins’. Two of the doubles that he launched in his third game with the team against the Marlins would have been home runs in a majority of parks, but not in Marlins Park. So, Cespedes still sits with zero home runs as a Met, but that will change against the Rockies.

The Rockies pitching staff has a propensity to give up home runs, surrendering 123 on the season. That is tied for third most in the majors with the Texas Rangers, trailing only the 126 the Tigers and 124 the Boston Red Sox have given up this season. Some people will point out that the home field the Rockies play at has something to do with that, but they also don’t have the strongest set of pitchers around that are giving up these home runs.

Even though Cespedes won’t have the pleasure of teeing off on these guys at Coors Field, they still give up home runs on the road too. That will lead to Cespedes hitting his first homer as a member of the Mets. He won’t stop there, as he will hit two home runs in the serious, making the Mets fans happy and leaving the front office grinning ear to ear when he does.
