21. Oakland Athletics (51-62) Taking three of four from the Astros is nice, but the Athletics playoff hopes are still slim to none as they have the second worst record in the AL. They will probably be stuck playing the spoiler role for the remainder of the season, something they will have plenty of opportunities to do this week. They are set for a road trip through the AL East as they will play three in Toronto against the Blue Jays then four in Baltimore against the Orioles, who they will be trying to exact some revenge against after dropping a series to them this past week. Rookie Aaron Brooks has looked strong in his first two starts with the Athletics, but will have his hands full with the Blue Jays and Orioles this week.

20. Cleveland Indians (51-59) The weekend series against the Twins was the first series win of the second half for the Indians since their first one against the Reds. The success in that first series and over the weekend is directly related to the offense, which exploded for 34 runs in the three games, led by Michael Brantley and Francisco Lindor near the top. Corey Kluber also fired a gem against the Twins, pitching a complete game with 10 strikeouts and only one run allowed. It may be too little too late for the Indians though, as the Indians trail by eight games in the wild card and 15 games in the AL Central.

19. Seattle Mariners (52-60) A winning week has the Mariners on the right track, but it it probably too late for the Mariners to get things going. They are one of the bigger disappointments in baseball this season. One of the reason has been inconsistent performance from the pitching staff, where Fernando Rodney is the poster boy. He blew his sixth save of the season this past week, as his ERA now sits at an unsightly 5.32 for the season. Nelson Cruz continues to rake though, as his five-game home run streak may have ended this week, but he continued his power surge with two more against the Rangers. Felix Hernandez also picked up his AL-leading 14th win of the season against the Rangers in the process.
