This week we saw a lot of movement in the middle of our MLB Power Rankings, as some teams vying for Wild Card spots are beginning to make their moves up the standings. With teams beginning to head up, that also means that there are some teams heading in the wrong direction and dropping down the standings.

In addition to the Wild Card races, division ones are beginning to tighten up as well as players acquired at the trade deadline are acclimating themselves to their new surroundings and teams are starting to reap the benefits of their newly acquired talent. Some of those trades haven’t worked out for teams yet though, as there are a number of teams that made moves at the deadline tumbling down our Power Rankings.

Which teams are rising and tumbling as we head into Week 19 of the MLB season? You will just have to read on and find out. Without further ado, take a look at the MLB Power Rankings from Empire Writes Back as we head into the second full week of August.

More from New York Yankees

30. Miami Marlins (44-68) Thanks to a second half surge from the Phillies, the Marlins now find themselves as the worst team in baseball. That is not a distinction anyone thought the Marlins would have at this point in the season, as many people thought they had a chance to challenge for a playoff spot with the moves they made in the offseason. Now, the Marlins are just hoping to get to the end of the season without any more injuries, as Giancarlo Stanton’s recovery is taking longer than anticipated, and Jose Fernandez may join him on the sidelines again. Fernandez is dealing with tightness in his shoulder, which is being diagnosed as a bicep tendon strain right now, so hopefully it doesn’t get worse.

29. Colorado Rockies (47-62) Top prospect Jon Gray made his MLB debut against the Mariners and it was a mixed bag. He pitched only four innings, giving up three runs, two of which were earned. He will make his second career start against the Mets on Monday. That is about all the Rockies have to look forward to, as they are entering a true rebuild. Carlos Gonzalez continues to increase his trade value as well, as he launched four home runs this week with nine RBI. The Rockies also played spoiler this week, a role they can play the remainder of the season, taking two of three from the Nationals.

28. Milwaukee Brewers (48-68) It was a strong week for the Brewers, who went 4-3 as they took three of four from the Padres and managed to take the series finale from the Cardinals. Taylor Jungmann and Jimmy Nelson continue to pitch well for the Brewers, as the two youngsters give the organization something to look forward to in the future. Nelson’s streak of not allowing an earned run was snapped against the Cardinals Sunday, but the Brewers were still able to pick up the win. Khris Davis also put on a show this week, having two multi-homer games to show the Brewers there is still some potential in that bat.
